Case study of brick paint removal and lime mortar flush type pointing restoration in Barnes.

Job Specification

The paint was partially removed but work was delegated to us as the previous contractor was unable to complete it. Before the beginning of removing paint from brickwork, we performed a full job specification. We made an evaluation of the brickwork condition to choose the right method of removing the paint.

Brick Paint Removal

Next, we removed paint from brick using superheated steam. The temperature of the steam breaks the bond between the paint and the surface causing absolutely no damage to the brick surface.

Lime Mortar Repointing

The client chose flush type pointing. What distinguishes this type of pointing is that it gives a rough “old look” appearance.

Amazing. I had a big problem with damp because of a wall that although had been repointed prior to my buying the house was now all crumbling and falling out. Leaving big gaps in the mortar. It had not been repointed properly to the correct depth. S J Pointer have done an amazing job removing and recutting all the joints to the correct depth and reinstating with some beautiful repointing work. This now looks like a new wall that I'm sure will last and be water tight for many years . I truely recommend this company to anyone who is thinking about having restoration work done on any brick or stonework.
